I have spent more than twenty-five years in the hotel business, much of it as an owner and a general manager. In all that time, the same frustration followed me from property to property: how much of our money, time, and energy goes to work that never once touches the guest.
The accounting. Systems that refuse to talk to each other. Administrative busywork. The endless machinery of rules and compliance. None of it makes a single stay more memorable, and yet it quietly consumes the very people who could.
